摘  要(英文):The relationship,employing canonical correlation method, has been analyzed between soil physiochemical characteristics and gradient of altitudes based on the data sampled from Dinghushan Forest Ecosystem Research Station in this paper. The results indicate that: 1) altitude is a kind of leading factor among the combined factors of altitudes, soil types and vegetation types; 2)soil physiochemical characteristics are determined by the contents of organic matters and total nitrides in soil; and 3) Soil type and vegetation type have a close correlation to altitudes, both soil type and vegetation type change at the same time, however, in opposite directions with increasing altitudes-soil type has a positive relativity and vegetation type a negative one, and the total nitrides decreased more rapidly than organic matters in soil along with increasing altitudes. This kind of phenomenon indicated an increasing C/N ratio of soil along with the increasing altitudes
